Whether you are new to the area, or you lived here for some time, its nice to take a break out of the business of life and have the opportunity to get to meet some others around the local district, and to find out a little more about services and facilities (i.e. doctors, chemists, shops etc.) that the Ormeau area has to offer.

Since 2009 a group of us who live in the area have been running free welcome breakfast BBQ’s in the area - one located in the park on halfway drive (which has an enclosed playground, so children have a safe place to play), and the other at our new location for 2012, Hilltop Park, Ormeau Ridge Estate. We alternate monthly between the two venues, weather permitting.

We meet on Sunday mornings – the next BBQ is on Sunday 19 February 8.30-10am at the Norfolk West Reserve, Halfway Drive, Ormeau. The BBQ is free, but there is the opportunity if you wish to help with a community project we are involved in assisting a local school provide for breakfasts for school children who arrive at school without having breakfast.
